Hmm.
Why an IJ? Maybe not for the same reason I got my LJ, but certainly for the same reason I still use my LJ. I like fics. I've been reading fanfiction since I was in tenth grade in high school and discovered the wonders of Gundam Wing fanfics (1x2, 3x4, 5x2, 1x2x5, etc. loved it. haven't stopped.) on Wing's Small World of Fanfics. That site is sadly long gone, but the interest has never really left. It simply moved into other fandoms, though admittedly I do go back and reread my favorite GW authors on a semi-annual basis (Sunhawk is The Goddess of GW).
Now I read virtually anything that is slashable and Labyrinth which is one of the few I actually like as Het, though I have nothing against pairing Jareth off with Harry potter or Xander from Buffy. I actually adore it, much like I adore Methos and Mac, Jim and Blair, Fraser and Kowalski, Naruto and Sasuke or Gaara (all three is good too), Xander and Spike, Levon Lundy and Joe LaFiamma from "Houston Knights", and my latest which is Lex and Clark. I'm currently debating about whether or not I should look into "Supernatural" or stick to Clex for another month or so before once more expanding my collection of reading material. So we'll see.
So that's why I have it. What I do? Well, I'm currently doing my thesis for my Masters in English. It's creative non-fiction, which to the annoyance of the more proper people in my dept I simply call "bleeding on a page." I knit, crotchet (been making 3 blankets for about 3 yrs now.), write (sadly until now it was only grad school approved fiction, though i did manage to get away with a slashy Sleeping Beauty rewrite), shoot a rubber target with a longbow (good for the upper body), horseback ride (Kills the legs, but the horses are better company than most people I know. Not all mind you. Just most.), and finish my bookcase (6 months and the shelves are done. Yeah! :p)to name a few minor hobbies.
My main things though at this point in time (Before college and fund issues horseback was The Main Thing.) are ceramics and editing. I am quite simply obsessed with dragons and love creating my own draconic species on paper and then making them with clay. I give them territories, mating habits (Some choose the same sex as a life mate and engage only with the opposite during a two day heat once every some number of years.), physical characteristics, different levels of tolerance for humans, etc. Maybe I'll put a pic or two up if I can figure out how. Beyond my dragons, editing is my next favorite thing. I love reading through something and finding where things work perfect and where they could be better. Oddly enough when I'm stressed during finals I find badly edited but decently plotted fics and correct them in my head for stress relief. Work's relaxing. Go figure. I suppose that's enough for a post, so I'm off to better things. Namely, finding something to read.
